This policy explains what information Flavinto (flavinto.com) collects when you visit, and how it is used. Flavinto also runs sister sites on flavinto.com subdomains (such as recipes.flavinto.com and crafts.flavinto.com); each of them has its own privacy policy.
What we collect
- No accounts needed. You can read everything without signing up.
- Server logs. Like almost every website, our web server records standard technical data (IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time) to keep the site secure and working.
- Comments. If you leave a comment, we collect the name, email address and (optional) website you enter, your comment, and your IP address and browser details to help detect spam. Your email address is never shown publicly.
- Messages. If you email us or use a contact form, we use your address and message only to reply, and we don’t add you to any mailing list.
- Visitor statistics. We measure visits with Google Analytics, Jetpack Stats and a statistics plugin on our own server; see below.
Visitor statistics
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, to understand how many people visit Flavinto and our sister sites, which pages they read and how they found us. All Flavinto sites share one Google Analytics account, so moving from one Flavinto site to another counts as a single visit.
- Cookies. Google Analytics sets its own cookies (named _ga and _ga_…) to tell new visitors from returning ones. They last up to two years unless you delete them.
- What Google receives: the pages you view, the website that sent you, scrolling, clicks on links to other sites and site searches, your device type, browser, operating system and screen size, your language setting, and your approximate location (country and city), which Google works out from your IP address. Google Analytics does not log or store your IP address.
- Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland: Google Analytics does not set its cookies for you; Google only receives a cookieless signal that a page was viewed.
- How long it is kept: detailed visit data is kept for 2 months; summary reports, such as monthly totals, are kept longer.
- Opting out: you can stop Google Analytics from measuring your visits on every website with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking or deleting cookies in your browser.
Jetpack Stats
Our WordPress site uses Jetpack Stats, a statistics service from Automattic (the company behind WordPress.com), to count page views. Jetpack Stats receives technical information about your visit, such as the page you viewed, the referring site, your browser and your IP address. Automattic’s handling of this data is described in its privacy policy.
Statistics on our own server
A statistics plugin on our own server also records visits, including your IP address, approximate country, browser, the page you viewed and the site that sent you. We use these records only for traffic statistics and don’t share them.
Advertising and Google AdSense
This site shows ads served by Google AdSense. In line with Google’s requirements:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies, including the DoubleClick DART cookie, enables Google and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising at any time in Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.
Other third-party vendors and ad networks that have not opted out may also use cookies, web beacons or similar technologies to measure ad performance and serve ads, and may collect information such as your IP address. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Cookies
- Google Analytics and Google AdSense set the cookies described above.
- Comment cookies. If you leave a comment, you may choose to save your name, email address and website in cookies so you don’t have to type them again. These cookies last for one year.
- Login cookies are set only for site editors who sign in to WordPress.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work.
Gravatar, Pinterest and other sites
Profile pictures next to comments come from Gravatar, a service run by Automattic: a scrambled string (hash) made from a commenter’s email address is sent to Gravatar to check for a picture (Gravatar’s privacy policy). Our Pinterest “Save” buttons are plain links; we don’t load Pinterest’s tracking scripts. If you follow a link to another site, that site’s own privacy policy applies.
How long we keep information
Comments and their details are kept so the conversation stays readable, until you ask us to remove them. Server logs are kept for a limited time. Google Analytics retention is described above.
Children
This site is intended for a general adult audience, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the UK and EU, or state privacy laws in the US), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information about you, or to object to how it is used. To ask about or remove a comment or any other information, email flavinto7@gmail.com. For Google Analytics and ad cookies, use the opt-out links above.
Changes
We may update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top always shows the current version.
